Meet Your Facilitators
Rita Utterback is a functional nutrition practitioner specializing in gut and hormone health for women navigating chronic symptoms like bloating, painful periods, fatigue, and hormone imbalances. After years of managing endometriosis, chronic gut issues, and the emotional toll of chronic illness, Rita understands firsthand what it feels like to live in a body that feels constantly “on edge.” That experience is what led her into this work and what continues to shape how she supports women today.
Rather than relying on rigid protocols or extreme elimination diets, Rita takes a full body, nervous system–aware approach to healing. One of her core beliefs is that healing should not come at the cost of more stress. Her work focuses on helping women support their hormones and gut health in ways that feel sustainable, gentle, and realistic for real life, not overwhelming or restrictive. At the heart of her practice is the understanding that when the nervous system feels safer, the body is far more capable of healing.
Laura Venable is a yoga and movement teacher who helps people feel more at ease in their bodies and lives. With a background in yoga, Pilates, breathwork, and somatic practices, Laura’s work is rooted in the belief that the body already holds deep wisdom — it simply needs the right conditions to soften, regulate, and restore.
After years of exploring both high-performance movement and deeply restorative practices, Laura has developed an approach that emphasizes nervous system support, sustainable strength, and gentle self-inquiry. Her classes are known for being accessible, thoughtful, and grounding, offering students tools they can carry off the mat and into daily life.
At the heart of Laura’s teaching is the intention to create spaces where people feel safe to slow down, reconnect, and feel more at home in themselves — not by pushing harder, but by listening more closely.
What to Expect
Hour One: Understanding Cortisol & the Female Body
Functional nutrition practitioner Rita Utterback will offer a compassionate, easy-to-understand exploration of cortisol and its role in women’s health. Rather than focusing on extremes or rigid rules, Rita shares how supporting the nervous system creates the conditions for better digestion, hormonal balance, energy, and overall well-being.
You’ll gain insight into:
How cortisol communicates with your hormones and digestive system
Why nervous system safety is foundational to healing and balance
Simple, realistic ways to support your body without adding more stress
Hour Two: Somatic Movement, Breathwork & Gentle Yoga
In the second half of the workshop, Laura will guide you through a calming somatic movement and breathwork practice designed to help the body soften, settle, and restore. Through gentle yoga, slow intentional movement, and nervous-system–supportive breathing, you’ll experience what it feels like to create space, steadiness, and ease from the inside out.
This practice supports:
A sense of grounded calm and internal safety
More fluid communication between body systems
A deeper connection to your body’s natural rhythms
No prior yoga experience is needed — this practice is accessible, intuitive, and deeply restorative.
